| First graders read the Charlie & Lola story But Excuse Me That Is My Book. We discussed how sometimes other people want to read the same book you picked out, brainstormed solutions for how to share the book. For example, students suggested one person choose to let the other person get the book first, or they play rock-paper-scissors or another choosing game, or they read the book together. First and second graders practiced using the laptops. We reviewed some basic tools, did some creating and tried saving and retrieving our work. |
Second grade students read the first couple chapters in the early chapter book Mercy Watson To The Rescue, the first in a series by Newbery-award winner Kate DiCamillo. We discussed story structure, made predictions and inferences, and began to illustrate a scene from the beginning of the story. Once we have a scene from the middle and one from the end, all students will create a slide show of their three pictures, along with a title page. You can watch for these creations to be featured in the media center showcase in a few months! | |
